Our goal is to purchase and restore Blackman Township's first fire truck; a 1946 Chevrolet General Pumper.  In 1976, after 30 years of service, the truck was decommissioned and purchased by a private collector who kept it in a barn in Onsted, Michigan.  This valuable piece of Blackman Township's history needs significant repair and restoration to make it drivable, functional, and safe.  Unfortunately, this project is not an appropriate use of tax dollars, so we are reaching out to you.  We hope residents, former employees and their families, and friends of Blackman Township and the Blackman-Leoni Township Department of Public Safety, see the value in preserving this historic artifact and donate to the cause.  Once the project is complete, the restored truck will be used for child fire safety demonstrations, school and community events (parades, Halloween Party, Scouts, etc.), and displayed for the public as a reminder of your Township's history.  All funds collected will be donated to Blackman Township and restricted to this specific purpose.  Please help us preserve your department's history by making a donation.   As a community, your collective contributions will preserve your antique fire truck for future generations to enjoy.
