please keep Chief, Shelby Sawyer and their little one they’re expecting in your prayers

Here’s what Shelby posted to Facebook :

“Thought it might be a little easier to send a quick update on here than responding to all of the great and very much appreciated messages we’ve been getting. First I want to say I - and the rest of our family - read every single one of them and love you all for it. If I don’t respond it’s not intentional, most of the day I don’t know where my phone is.

So as most of you know, Brandon had been feeling off all week. He was examined and released in Concord, then suffered what the current neuro team believes is a second stroke and aneurysm on our way home just outside of Summersville, where he was then transferred to Morgantown. Here, he’s for the most part remained in the same state as when the EMTs got to us. The angiogram revealed what they think looks like clotting on its own, so they didn’t do coils and will recheck in a few days to see if the clot is dissolving or holding. He did go from a 1-3-1 on the response test (there’s a real name for it, sorry doctor friends, but this is what I call it) to a 1-4-1 and then a 1-5-1. Basically responding to pain stimulus on the left side, then in the Upper middle chest. They had a drain trying to relieve some of the pressure on the brain, but he was getting agitated (likely because he’s a million miles an hour and had been stuck in a bed for 24 hours) and his cranial pressure spiked. They rushed him to the OR to remove a portion of the skull to relieve pressure. His stats remain good, the post Op CT showed the same as it has been, & we have an MRI scheduled for midnight. He’s breathing over the vent but very hard, so they’ve given him a very low dose of fentanyl to calm him and let his body fight off other things. They have repeated the response test post op and it seems to be about where he was first thing this morning. This could be from the sedation and coming off of anesthesia. He also contracted pneumonia which they’re treating and monitoring closely. I’m sure there are a dozen or so other things that I’m not thinking of right now, but this is pretty much where we are. It’s a waiting game now as the doctor said it’s in his court, they’ve pretty much exhausted all medical efforts at this point but age is on his side. He really needs all the prayers, good vibes, spells, whatever magic you believe in please send it his way, and also Sawyer’s.”
