Big Dreams, Small Paws – Help Me Become a Vet

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Angelica and I started this fundraiser because I was accepted to study Veterinary Medicine at University of Edinburgh.

However after trying to find scholarships or bursaries to pay off the course fees which are £39,700 per year, I decided to withdraw my place with a heavy heart.

My fundraiser is still on because I’m applying for other universities where I will still to help towards paying the tuition fees.

I will take on a few challenges in the next few months. To help raise these funds, I recently completed the West Highland Way, a challenging 96-mile journey. This experience tested my resilience and determination, values that I carry with me on my path to becoming a veterinarian.

I have always known I wanted to work in a clinical environment where I could focus on understanding diseases and their treatments. What draws me to veterinary medicine is the connection with animals and my admiration for their resilience. Animals cannot articulate their discomfort or needs the way humans can, which makes diagnosing and treating them a unique and rewarding challenge. Helping and treating animals who rely on us for their well-being, fills me with an immense and priceless satisfaction.

However, this journey goes beyond treating animals. It is a lasting commitment to safeguarding their welfare.

Although I showed an interest in this profession growing up, I initially lacked the self-confidence to pursue it, which delayed my decision. The only moments I felt genuinely excited were when I was around animals.

At the same time, my work as an Animal Care Assistant in an emergency veterinary practice gave me hands on experience of how veterinarians manage critical situations involving pets and their owners. These experiences were pivotal in consolidating my decision to apply for Veterinary Medicine. This also led me, as a mature student, to pursue a degree in Applied Animal Science, which expanded my knowledge far beyond my expectations and opened the door to studying Veterinary Medicine.

Over the years, I’ve volunteered at kennel, shadowed veterinarians, and worked hard academically to reach this point.

Your support will help me dedicate myself fully to my studies and one day care for the animals who need it most. Every donation, big or small, makes a huge difference and brings me closer to my goal.

I am deeply grateful for your support in helping me chase my dream, turning my passion into purpose.
