Bring Beni's family to safety! #BeniCheverly
Donation protected
Many of us first came to know Bertin (Beni) in 2018 when we learned that he was fleeing torture and death threats in his home country of Cameroon and seeking asylum here in America. Thanks to his tireless determination and the support of friends like you, he has already overcome so many challenges.
In just four years, he's learned English, secured several full and part-time jobs, navigated a complex immigration process, obtained a driver’s license, and purchased a car. Along the way, he's become a beloved member of his Cheverly, MD, community.
NOW, HE HAS BEEN GRANTED ASYLUM IN THE U.S.!
Truly, Beni hasn’t paused to take a breath.
Beni now needs us to surround him with our love and support even more.
His being safe from torture isn’t enough while those he loves are still under threat.
Beni has been striving for asylum and working nonstop (literally!), all out of love and concern for his family. For the past four years, while he’s been seeking asylum here, he’s also been desperately trying to keep his wife and six kids safe in Cameroon. Now, with his asylum secured, he is doing everything he can to bring his wife, Francine, and his children to safety in the U.S.
The funds needed to navigate this process are formidable.
Simply getting his family out of the country and to America will cost over $20,000!
—but Beni MUST succeed.
Beni is already covering so many costs, laboring with little sleep, stringing together jobs to provide for his family and fund the unreasonable demands required to secure permission for them to leave for America. His wife and children are in hiding, living separately for protection. His daughters and sons are unable to go to school, living in real fear, unable to even step outside into the sunshine.
Beni is driven by his love as a husband and father.
He wants Francine and their children to be safe and happy.
He wants them to be a family again—together in America.
So, please share and give—we want Beni’s journey to end in rejoicing.
Help tell his story to everyone you know!
We have been able to create so much good, and there is much more to come.
This is how America welcomes: this is what community does for each other.
