Benefit for Cancer Patient Kimberly Diamond
Donación protegida
My youngest daughter Maddy’s Mom, Kimberly Diamond could really use some prayers and support right now. I’m not one to ask anyone for anything, ever. But these are extenuating and critical circumstances. Within the last year she was diagnosed with cervical cancer, which has now metastasized in 70% of her brain. Maddy and I went to Richmond last week so she could visit her Mom in the hospital since she had to be transferred from Radford Hospital to VCU’s Massey Cancer Center.
While we were there, she was finally released, so we gave her a ride back and I realized just how dire her situation has become. Unfortunately the prognosis for brain metastasis is generally terminal, but with her fighting spirit, if anyone can beat cancer, it’s her! She told Maddy to let everyone know that no matter what the prognosis, she's not giving up, no matter what and plans to continue fighting.
I have been racking my brain for ways Maddy and I can try to help her and the best thing I could come up with is let’s do a big benefit for her through my entertainment companies! Of course we ran this all by her and we have her blessing to do this. We’ll do it all covid-friendly in case anyone is concerned about that, and it’s something you can support just from driving up in your car, or virtually-online. We’ll be breaking out our giant outdoor drive in movie set up, popcorn, cotton candy, snow cone machines, hotdogs and stage and even dusting off our musical instruments to help her financially and for her emotional well being. She is way too sick to work currently. We want to show her how many people care about and support her.
Floyd County's own musical duo Snare and Landis (my friend Jake and I) have agreed to sing and play some songs too. We’ll bring our bus Tammy and pull a trailer for the movie screen. As we’re waiting for it to get dark, we’ll be playing our favorite songs and a few I have written. Hopefully that won’t run anybody off! The drive in outdoor live music show will start at 6:00pm. Once it gets dark, we’ll start with Smurf’s The Lost Village at 7:30pm and Grease after that. I am not a Grease fan, but Maddy’s Mom is, and her caring sister Sheila had the idea of playing that one. She’s right, Maddy’s Mom will love that! We’ll also be doing a gofundme campaign and I’ll start it off with the first $100.00 donation, and much more in the near future to make the whole thing happen. Please help if you can. Of course her pictures on the flyer are from happier, healthier times when our daughter was first born.
If you can’t donate, that’s ok too.
You’re still invited to the event. I know kids and everyone could use some family fun and entertainment right about now, and this will be a great time for a great cause. It will do wonders for Maddy’s Mom to see people and her hometown community come together for her, I know. She really very much needs all the support she can get right now! Maddy and I thought that by creating a gofundme, we can accept credit card donations at the drive in movie and music night in addition to cash and checks, and it will provide an opportunity for anyone who can’t come and wants to donate virtually to help out.
I wouldn’t create a gofundme for any other reason, no matter what I was going through; for me personally but I will for someone else in need. Especially since the recipient has been a good Mom to my daughter. Maybe not everyone would make an effort to help their ex, but I’m not everyone. I’m in the perfect position to do this through my entertainment companies, so as far as I’m concerned there’s no way I can NOT do it! And for no other reason than to help another human being who really needs it.
Kim has 4 children, including Maddy. Every dime we raise will go directly to the patient. We look forward to seeing everyone October 10th. We’ll be there early, so you can come early and help my workers and Jake and I set it all up or just to hang out if you'd like. A HUGE thank you to John Paul Thomas with Thomas Industrial Fabrication and Thomas and Wall Realty of Floyd, Va. for the use of their facility and parking lot for the fundraiser.
