Be There For The Brazells

The Brazell family has been through a great deal recently as Lonnie has suffered some unexpected and quite severe medical complications. On August 2, 2017 Lonnie was admitted to Piedmont Medical Center with unexplained symptoms. Many tests were performed that provided little info on what was happening and he was quickly placed in the ICU, heavily sedated and on a ventilator. His condition was declining quickly and the decision was made to transfer him to CMC Pineville. During his ICU stay there Lonnie continued to be under heavy sedation on a ventilator with feeding tubes and was given IV antibiotics. It had been determined that his pancreas was the main cause of the problems he was suffering. Due to the severity of Lonnie's condition the decision was again made to transfer him and he was sent to CMC Main. While at CMC Main he continued to remain on medical assistance and draining tubes were placed from his abdomen to allow the infection to drain. There was a lot of progress during this time but also a great deal of set backs. The specialist finally were able to diagnose Lonnie with Necrotizing Pancreatitis but the underlying cause is still unknown. After 21 days spent in 3 different hospitals with 17 of those days being in ICU, Lonnie was finally discharged with the drainage tubes still in place. His wife Emily had remained by his side the entire time and will continue to care for him at home and assist in the proper care of his drainage tubes. Lonnie's battle is far from over. He will continue to have follow up care with specialist and it is uncertain where this diagnosis will lead him from here. During this time Emily and Lonnie have been unable to work and the total expense of their medical bills continues to climb. This sweet family has loved and supported many people over the years and it's our turn to give back. Please help this family so they can continue to care for their little girl Makenzie and focus on Lonnie's recovery. Thank you and God bless!
