This is with extreme sadness our family is even needing to reach out, so we can properly bury our precious baby girl. We were completely blindsided and are still in shock this is even happening. We heard the words “incompatible with life” and in an instant, all our lives were changed.

For over a year Ashley & Patrick have tried to conceive. They were overjoyed to find out they were pregnant after suffering a miscarriage last year. Ashley, 5 months pregnant, happy and excited going in for her routine 20-week ultrasound.

During this ultrasound our family’s world turned upside down when we found out that baby girl, Oaklynn Rose, has an extremely rare and fatal birth defect called Anencephaly.  Sadly, this is the absence of a major portion of her brain, skull, and scalp that occurs during embryonic development. A baby born with Anencephaly,  at any gestation, will most likely be stillborn or survive only a few hours.

From Ashley’s mother: I cannot begin to imagine the pain of losing a child or even wrap my head around having to labor and deliver a still born baby knowing ahead of time your child has passed. What strength that must take for both of them! Yet, this is just what my incredibly strong daughter and her husband are facing right now.  My heart breaks for them! 

As a family we have created this GoFundMe account to help pay for totally unexpected baby Oaklynn Rose’s funeral expenses, uncovered medical expenses, and the expenses they will incur from loss of work while they deal with this unexpected tragic loss and plan their baby’s funeral.

Please, please pray for healing and strength for Ashley, Patrick and our entire family.  RIP our precious baby Oaklynn. You will always hold a special place in all our hearts.  You were treasured and loved before we even knew you sweet baby girl.  Our hearts are torn in a million pieces.
