"Lets help María José to Walk"

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lucy Alderete, and I am raising funds for my grand-niece María José who lives in Perú.
Cattia and Jose Antonio, my nephews, have a daughter named María José, she is my great-niece.
María José was born in June 2016 in an emergency caesarean section because Cattia suffered Preeclampsia (pregnancy complication due to high blood pressure), the baby had not yet developed her lungs and was admitted to the ICU intubated and with mechanical ventilation, these were difficult and complicated days for the family. Finally, when she came out of the intubation, the neurologist told them that Maria José had suffered a hemorrhage on the right side of her brain and that all her senses had to be monitored and controlled.
Everything seemed fine until they began to see problems in her motor development, they started therapy and a year later they were told that María José had cerebral palsy-spastic diplegia.
It was sad news for the whole family, but they resumed their therapies with more force and the parents have not stopped looking for additional ways to help improve her quality of life.
Thus, and after a long time researching, they found the Center for Cerebral Palsy Spasticity at St. Louis Children's Hospital -Missouri and that the neurosurgeon, Dr. Park, operated on children with Cerebral Palsy. The operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy, allows to reduce and/or annul the spasticity that they present due to cerebral palsy.
María José wants to walk but this spasticity does not allow her to, on the contrary, she is beginning to experience discomfort, shortening muscles, and forming harmful postures.
Maria José, after having been evaluated, is a suitable candidate for the benefits of this operation, she has a good prognosis according to Dr. Park to achieve balance, improve posture, avoid deviations, and manage to walk with additional support like the walker.
For my nephews this is the best thing that can happen to Majito since she found the independence that she so longs for.
Additionally, a second critically needed muscle lengthening operation was added, since the spasticity has caused shortening of the leg muscles.
Our budget is not enough, added to the expenses that are derived from staying in St. Louis -Missouri for almost 40 days and intensive post-operative therapies. The budget is high.
The Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) operation will be this October 17, 2023, and after 2 weeks the 2nd Muscle Lengthening Operation (PERCs) will be perferomed to complement her therapies, she must use orthotic devices.
The cost of both operations plus orthotics is US $68.2K My nephews have been saving but this budget is high, and they do request support.
It is time for us to ask for help so that we can ensure María José’s dreams come true and improve her quality of life.
The results of this operation are normally reflected 3 or 6 months after being operated and to accelerate and help effectiveness María José must perform intensive therapies at least in the following 6 months. These operations will change the life of María José.
Let's work together to help María José!
We are believers not only of God, but of the goodness of people and their great support for causes like this.
The funds raised will be used solely for hospital expenses.
Thank you for your time and consideration, God bless you!!
