Alejandra Ospina is a mother of four children, ages 8, 12, 13, and 16. She has always worked incredibly hard to provide for her family and make sure her children have everything they need, even during very difficult times.
Alejandra is also someone who is always willing to help others. For years, she has cared for and supported the people around her. Alejandra has always been someone who takes care of those around her. She has a huge heart, especially for children and families who are going through difficult times. She frequently contributes food and clothing donations to people experiencing homelessness, and knowing Alejandra, she will continue to make those donations even while facing her own challenges. Now, she and her family are going through a time when they need to receive that same support from their community.
Recently, Alejandra was diagnosed with a serious and potentially life-threatening infection caused by Mycobacterium abscessus. The infection is resistant to many antibiotics and will require intensive treatment, including at least six months of intravenous antibiotics. Due to the severity of her condition and the demands of her treatment, Alejandra will be unable to work for the foreseeable future.
To make this situation even more difficult, Alejandra's 8-year-old son is also facing a medical condition called pyogenic granuloma. It is incredibly difficult for Alejandra to be separated from her son while receiving her own treatment, especially knowing that he is also facing health challenges. She wants to be there for her children, but right now she needs to focus on recovering so she can continue to be there for them in the long term.
Her partner is doing everything possible to care for Alejandra and their four children and support their household. However, taking on the responsibilities of caring for the children and supporting Alejandra throughout her treatment will significantly limit his ability to work.
Right now, this family needs our help to make sure they can maintain a safe and stable home. We are raising funds to help cover the family's rent and basic living expenses over the coming months so that Alejandra and her family do not have to worry about losing their housing while she receives treatment.
The last thing Alejandra should have to worry about while fighting a serious illness is whether her family will have a roof over their heads.
By helping with rent, we can take an enormous burden off this family's shoulders and give Alejandra the space she needs to focus on her recovery, while giving her children the stability and security they need during this incredibly difficult time.
Any contribution, no matter the amount, can make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign with your friends, family, and community is also a valuable way to help.
Thank you for helping surround Alejandra and her children with the same kindness, compassion, and support that she has so generously given to others.
