On January 26, 2026, according to police sources, a man was found deceased at a construction site in Norwood, in the city of New York, Bronx County. The body was discovered by a worker at the construction site, who immediately contacted the authorities.

Unfortunately, he could not be identified at that time, as he was found without clothing, without identification documents, and without his cellphone, which made it impossible to contact his family.

I, Luisa Fernanda Reyes, the older sister of Daniel Reyes, learned of his death on January 30, as my brother never went missing for so many days. We constantly texted and called him, but his phone remained turned off. This caused me great distress, as I felt that something was terribly wrong.

I live in Long Island, New York, and I decided to travel to his apartment in the Bronx. I know the access code to his home, and from the moment I started knocking on the door, I began recording because I feared something serious might have happened. When I entered the apartment, everything was in perfect condition.

We immediately contacted the authorities to report his disappearance and to obtain information about his whereabouts. The officers arrived at the apartment, asked me several questions, and requested my brother’s name and date of birth. After checking hospitals, morgues, and other locations, one of the officers returned to deliver the devastating news: my brother had been found deceased at the location mentioned above.

As you can imagine, receiving such news is something no sister ever expects. The impact was devastating, and I had to be calmed due to the emotional state I was in. From that moment on, I began contacting the investigator and the Medical Examiner’s Office to obtain further information.

The authorities informed me that the cause of his death is still under investigation, as the circumstances surrounding the discovery are unclear. According to the information provided, my brother was found covered by snow, without clothing and without his belongings, and he had abrasions on his legs and on his face. All of these details are part of the ongoing investigation, and at this time, no official conclusion can be made until all results are completed.

I was also informed that there is a possibility of repatriating my brother’s body to Colombia, so that his father and the rest of our family can give him a dignified burial.

My brother Daniel Reyes was 27 years old, had no children, and in this country, he only had me, his sister, and his nieces and nephews. The rest of our family lives in Colombia.

Los oficiales llegaron al apartamento, me realizaron varias preguntas y solicitaron el nombre y la fecha de nacimiento de mi hermano. Tras verificar en hospitales, morgues y otras entidades, uno de los policías regresó para darme la devastadora noticia: mi hermano había sido encontrado sin vida en el lugar antes mencionado.

Como podrán imaginar, recibir una noticia así es algo que ningún hermano espera. El impacto fue devastador y tuvieron que tranquilizarme debido al estado en el que me encontraba. A partir de ese momento, inicié contacto con el investigador y con medicina legal para obtener mayor información.

Las autoridades me informaron que la causa de su muerte aún se encuentra bajo investigación, ya que las circunstancias del hallazgo son confusas. Según la información proporcionada, mi hermano fue encontrado cubierto por la nieve, sin ropa y sin sus pertenencias, y presentaba raspaduras en sus piernas y en su rostro. Todos estos elementos forman parte de la investigación en curso y, por el momento, no se puede emitir ninguna conclusión oficial hasta que se obtengan todos los resultados correspondientes.

También me informaron que existe la posibilidad de repatriar el cuerpo de mi hermano a Colombia, para que su padre y el resto de nuestra familia puedan darle una sepultura digna.

Mi hermano Daniel Reyes tenía 27 años, no tenía hijos y en este país solo contaba conmigo, su hermana, y con sus sobrinos. El resto de nuestra familia se encuentra en Colombia.
