Aurora’s college funds
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Aurora. I am currently a highschool senior at Aspire Benjamin Holt College Preparatory Academy. I am the oldest of four children and will be the first in my family to go to college. I plan on majoring in environmental science at the California State University, Chico and hope to do research after graduating from college. My high school GPA unweighted is 3.64 and my weighted GPA is 4.07. Throughout my four years of highschool I have participated in many clubs including Interact, California Scholarship Federation, Art Club, Student Council and Student mentoring (tutoring). I have enjoyed these clubs a lot as I have learned how to communicate with others, take a leadership position and be responsible.
In October 2017, my dad was denied a U.S. visa and is now living in Mexico. This event affected my family’s income tremendously. Without my dad with us, my mom is not able to pay for my college expenses herself. Currently my financial aid package will cover my tuition and fees but it will not cover room and board nor will it cover the expenses for books and supplies. I do not plan on living on campus because that is too expensive but the expenses of renting an apartment off campus will still be a struggle for my mom alone. Currently these expenses are affecting my future and making it so that I may not be able to go to a four year college as I have planned since the beginning of my high school career. I hope that through donations I will be able to pay for rent and books. Thank you to everyone who contributes, if there are any questions or if anyone would like a letter of recommendation from my teachers I would be glad to send one, just make sure to message me. Again thank you for the support my family and I really appreciate all the help!
