Assistance for the Pollard family.

I made the goal $49k, as Scot celebrated his 49th birthday in the ICU and was gifted a new heart, a few days later.  Being part of this journey with the Pollards & seeing Scot's health decline over the course of years, has been very challenging.  How do you help out the big and strong? How do you fix all his problems and ease things for his family?  This was the way I decided to go.

I met Scot Pollard while he was playing for the Sacramento Kings & I was covering the team for a local radio station. We quickly became friends with our twisted sense of humor & that friendship has blossomed into a 20+ year friendship. Scot is SOO much more than a former basketball player or Survivor contestant. He is a DEDICATED Father to 4 and the most loving Husband to his wife Dawn. Dawn and Scot are currently 5 hours away from their home, while Scot recovers from heart transplant surgery.

To the Rock Chalk, Sactown, LFK, Mile High, and countless other FAMILIES who are dear to Dawn and Scot Pollard:
Dawn has stayed by his side while they waited for a compatible donor to give him the priceless gift of continued life. That day finally happened!! Although the costs they’ll incur over this journey aren’t yet well-defined, what is clear is that they’ll be substantial over the long road ahead.

Dawn has gotten a rental by the hospital for her, the kids and family so they are able to be near to support him on this long road to recovery.

Scot has been unable to work for sometime due to his health battle & Dawn has been holding down the fort. With Dawn sticking by Scot's side, she's not able to currently work. Supporting a family with kiddos and that BIG OLE MAN, the additional expenses of being away from home are going to add up & this is just the beginning of the road to recovery.

Those of you who know Dawn and Scot also know that their hearts, and their generosity, have no bounds. But what they do have, they’ve given freely to those who are in need. Whether it’s helping to fund causes from KU scholarships to childhood cancer research, giving their time to their communities through Carmel Youth Sports or the Indianapolis Zoo , or opening their arms to friends old and new, these two amazing people are quick to give of themselves while asking nothing in return.

If you’re blessed enough to donate monetarily to #31, (maybe $31 ?) please know that every penny will go to ease their heavy burden ahead of medical and associated expenses. If you’re unable to donate money, please consider being an organ donor to give others your selfless gift of continued life. Finally and at no cost, please give Dawn and Scot & the kids your love, positive words, and prayers as they navigate a very difficult and emotional time.

Scot would totally scold me for setting this up for him but he can't tell me no right now & this is what friends do, You show you care, when you can! I know he would do the same for me, while wearing some outlandish outfit.

With love to you,

Jodi
