As an ER nurse, Ashlen has dedicated her life to helping others. Caring for sick kids and their families is her passion. Now, she’s doing something even more extraordinary: she is choosing to donate part of her liver to save my life.

An autoimmune disease (Primary Billiary Cholangitis) has destroyed my liver and my only option is a transplant. This isn’t something any parent ever expects — the need to be saved by their own child. But here we are. Ashlen’s courage, love, and selflessness will give me a second chance. While most people her age are focused on raising families, building careers, traveling and friendships; she made a choice that speaks to the deepest kind of love there is. Ashlen is not only giving me a liver — she's giving me more birthdays, time with family, laughter and priceless memories.

This journey won’t be easy. The road ahead has its challenges — surgery, recovery, medical bills, major life changes, and the emotional toll that comes with it all. For Ashlen, recovery will be especially tough: a week-long hospital stay followed by months of healing as her liver gradually regenerates. Still, we are moving forward with faith, hope, love, and strength — and with the incredible support of people like you.
