ASB's Volunteer Trip to India 2025

We are a student-run group at Toronto Metropolitan University that engages in sustainable development projects internationally. This year, we are partnering with Yearoutindia (YOI) and hope to travel to Kozhimala, Kerala, India, in May 2025 to help expedite their work constructing sanitation and latrine facilities. ASB operated from 2007 to 2019 and ran more than ten successful trips, but it was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our team, comprised of 18 TMU students this year, hopes to revive ASB, which is an enriching opportunity for individuals to participate in cross-cultural education and student and community engagement.

However, we require significant funding to operationalize our project, which we obtain largely through fundraising events (i.e. bake sales, silent auction) and various grant opportunities. The money we raise goes towards local labour wages, locally sourced tools and materials, NGO administration fees and other expenses needed to make these projects a success.
