Don Nisbett's Medical Fund

I am starting this fundraiser for my step-dad, the artist Don Nisbett. Don & his wife have been running a small gallery at the Port of Ilwaco in Ilwaco, Washington for over ten years. Those who know him can attest to the fact that he is an amazing person who is constantly giving back to the community through his art work and friendships. He has always been an inspiration to me.
Over the last 3-4 months, Don had become ill. Only a couple days after his wife (my mother) had surgery, he reluctantly went to the emergency room after losing over 50 lbs, his body failing and feeling very sick. He was admitted to the hospital, where he spent the last week. He had tried his hardest to keep the gallery open as long as possible to provide for him and his family while his wife was having surgery and has additional medical problems (my mother) .
He was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis; which may have caused diabetes or he may have had undiagnosed type one/ hereditary diabetes. He went into a very dangerous state of D.K.A. (Diabetic Ketoacidosis) He is having to make some radical lifestyle changes and is now insulin dependant. Being an uninsured, small business owner has left him and his family with the burden of some huge medical expenses as well as lost income from their business. He will be unable to obtain insurance until January 2016 and will need continued care and expensive medications. My mother has medical insurance, but still has a deductible and a portion of additional medical expenses and tests to pay.
I'm starting this campaign to raise money to help relieve some of this financial stress that will allow Don the time he needs to recover and restrengthen to come back stronger than ever!!! Thank you all for your support. Whatever you can give is greatly appreciated and will go directly to Don and his family.
