Arm support for Tomek

Hi, my name is Anna, and I am fundraising for my son Tomek who is 15 years old. At 2, he was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a rare genetic disorder characterised by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness. He lost the ability to walk two years ago and uses his power wheelchair all the time. He is now losing his ability to feed himself as the power in his upper body is also deteriorating. The activities we take for granted, like eating, drinking, scratching our noses, holding the phone, and waving goodbye, are becoming challenging.

He has trialled Salvum arm support and found it to be everything he wanted to enable him to remain as independent as possible. The device compensates for the arm's weight by a spring system and follows the user's natural movement.

It was wonderful to see Tomek so happy.

The cost of the device exceeds our capabilities. Life with DMD is costly as local services do not provide such specialist equipment.

Tomek is a fighter. He is fascinated by science, interested in how things work, and spends his free time doing 3D projects. He plans to go to university and study IT, engineering or law. Helping to fundraise the arm support you will allow him to achieve his goal and make him happy.
