My name is Anya Chuprys and I'm a sprint kayaker at the Burloak Canoe Club.

I've just finished up with a week of competing in Welland, Ontario at the annual Canadian Canoe Kayak National Championships.  This year's nationals has been one of the most fun, tiring, and rewarding competitions I've taken part in since I've started paddling, as I was able to come home with a second place finish in both the U17 K1 2OOm and U17 K1 500m events.

I'm lucky enough to be a part of a sports community in which hard work is rewarded with opportunity, and this weeks results have given me just that; the opportunity to race in the Czech Republic as a part of the Canadian Olympic Hopes team. 

While exciting, this competition is expensive and I need some help getting there. In order to cover the cost of accomodations, uniforms, travel, and the like, I need to raise $3500.  

I'm not the first of my teammates to earn a spot on a trip of this nature. The Burloak Canoe Club has sent athletes to compete at Olympic Hopes, Junior Worlds, Pan Am championships, World Cups, Olympics, etc.. I've been left with big shoes to fill, and I'm eager to follow the example that my older fellow Burloak paddlers have set by competing around the world in the past. Any donation, big or small, will play a part in getting me there!
