Andy began feeling ill about 16 weeks ago. Four days of chills, fever and vomitting followed by a rash on his body, itchy skin, discoloured urine and diarrhea. Six weeks ago his skin and eyes turned yellowish.
He checked into the E.R. , was treated and diagnosed as having Jaundise. A stent was inserted to drain all fluids from stomach, pancreas, gallbladder to the small intestine . During the procedure. Cancer was discovered near the area of the stent. Surgery was recommended and a colonoscopy ordered. No cancer found in colon.
Andy is self-employed as a house painter and carpenter with no other employees. He has no insurance and Medicare is a year away. His sole income as of now is less than $1000.00 per month from Social Security.
Already the medical bills are over $25,000.00 and his upcoming surgery will require 7 To 10 days stay in the hospital and nearly 2 months of bed rest. Lost of income will be the result, and being limited by Soc. Sec. from earning more than he collects, would put him in a financial hole for the rest of his life.
