Don protégé
On September 17, 2015, Florilda and David Everton, both 73, and their grandson Ambrose Everton, age 4, were in an automobile accident in Sumter County, Alabama. They were traveling from Houston, TX to Johnson City, TN.
Florilda did not survive the accident. Ambrose survived without injury. David survived with significant injuries, including fractures in his cervical vertebrae. David will have to wear a neck brace for at least 6 months. He will also have to undergo extensive rehabilitation in order to regain his ability to function independently. Currently, he is having diffculty standing and getting up on his own.
As the family deals with the death of their beloved Florilda, they are also facing mounting medical bills, which include David's 3 days in the ICU at Tuscaloosa General Hospital in Alabama and Ambrose's 2 days in the Birmingham Children's Hospital. Bills will also include David's extended rehabilitation and at-home nursing services.
David is a retired Disciples of Christ minister. He and Florilda lived a simple life on a minister's income. David's incoming medical expenses will far outweigh his ability to pay for them. Any assistance is appreciated to help the family and David at this difficult time.
