Hope for Healing - Stem Cells 4 Amy
Donation protected
It is hard to even know where to start.
My body is dying. (more so than the normal day to day fading) This MS that I battle is beginning to take the lead in this race, and frankly, I am just not ready to lose.
We have tried everything under the sun to improve the condition of my body and my quality of life...and every time, we seem to take 3 steps forward and 12 steps back.
When I recieved my fat derived stem cells in Chicago, it was a wonderful miracle for 5 whole days! My color improved, I was able to stand again for short periods of time, there was balance that found its way back in my general direcion at times. It was wonderful! I was so encouraged!
But alas, the pain and the discomfort of the lipo procedure was just too much for my battered body. I am, minute by minute, fighting a bloody and brutal war within this body of mine...and that was a direct hit. I have been failing again ever since.
Still there is hope! God blessed me with a wonderful stem cell doctor that has remained in contact and has been sharing information and pointers whenever he can. He sent me a video of a doctor in Panama that is using cord blood stem cells, donated from healthy born babies, to give people with MS another chance at life! This was for me! I knew it! I applied without hesitation!
I mean, who cares if I have never been on a plane? Or if I am terrified of flying? Or if I have no idea how I would get my crippled butt on a plane anyway? It's not like that would matter at all, right!? I just knew this was for me!
So we prayed! Everyone prayed! Prayed that I would be selected if this is the path God had for me....and they said YES! Just 2 days after my application was submitted! I filled it out and submitted it on Saturday, and I had a yes by Monday! WooooHoooo!
There is hope! :D
This is where I need the help of my fellow man. This procedure is going to cost $21,300, and it is not covered by insurance. My husband and I will also be needing airfare, lodging, etc. for 5-7 days in Panama City. We have roughly estimated that the trip is going to cost about $25,000 in total. We have a small bit of money saved up, but it will not even begin to make a dent in a bill of that magnitude.
If you could lend a hand, or prayers, or even just a share of the information, we would be forever grateful!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share in my journey!
