Amber's Fight for Life: Battle Against Leukemia

Help Needed for Amber & Her Family

 

Meet Amber, a devoted mother, wife, and amazing friend, who, just a few months ago, uprooted her life to be closer to family in Pennsylvania. Amber and her husband Dave never imagine that the happiest time of buying a home being closer to family would quickly turn into one of the hardest times ever.

 

On August 22, Amber received the devastating news: she has MPAL, a rare and aggressive form of leukemia that affects only 2-5% of patients. Her life quickly spiraled from there. Her treatment plan is grueling, spending one week in the hospital and three weeks at home, repeating this for eight agonizing months. If her leukemia goes into remission, she'll need a stem cell transplant. Which has a whole new set of struggles for at least one year.

 

Amber has insurance but unfortunately there are quite a few of her medications not covered so there has been a fair amount of expense just to cover what she needs to live. Their world has completely changed in just a few short months.

 

But it doesn't end there. ❤️‍ Dave, Amber's husband & the family's sole provider, endured a major injury, shattering his entire heel on September 17th. He won't be able to put weight on his foot for 6-8 months. Their once-steady income has completely changed.

 

This family of five, including their 3 precious children are struggling with knowing how to make the ends meet. With a new mortgage, children to feed, and unbearable medical costs, and her husband’s injury impacting the family income, it’s obvious that cancer is not her only battle. The financial burden caused by this string of unfortunate events have left this family in a state of shock.  Amber, whose heart is as big as her smile, has always been the first to help others.

 

Even the strongest hearts need our help sometimes. We all know Amber is an incredible person who consistently puts others first, spreading kindness and warmth wherever she goes. People like Amber are rare and are the ones who make the world a better place, selflessly giving. But now, Amber, one of these extraordinary souls is facing a battle of her own.

 

Amid all of Amber’s selflessness, it's easy to forget that even the most giving individuals need support, ESPECIALLY when they're waging a life-and-death fight. Leukemia doesn't discriminate; it strikes the kind and compassionate just as readily as anyone else.
