Amateur Wrestling/Art Clothing Line
Don protégé
Hello,
My name is Brian Zane. I have been involved with the great sport of wrestling since I was four years old (28 yrs ago). Two years ago I moved to Austin, TX, helped build a brand new wrestling program and became the head coach.
This area of the country is lacking experienced technicians to continue to grow the sport outside of a hand full of high school teams, so I decided to dedicate myself to starting an academy that will be called GrassRoots Wrestling Academy. We will provide affordable options for these city kids to learn a sport that teaches work ethnic, integrity, metal toughness, and character. Not everybody in Texas can or wants to play football, but the options are limited.
To raise money for the academy and satisfy a passion for art and creativity I have started an art-inspired amateur wrestling clothing line called The Art of Wrestling. This line will honor the past and present of wrestling through various art modalities (surrealism, abstract, realism, etc). I have spent my own teacher's retirement fund to this point on designs, a website, clothing, and machinery needed to launch, however I need a little more to present the quality product I envision.
Our website will feature the artists responsible for the designs with a link to their own websites as well as wrestling organization and charities supported and founded by wrestlers. I will be donating a portion of the proceeds, between 5-15% to these organizations to continue their amazing work. I plan on partnering with multiple organizations and charities as the business grows. True martial artists give back to the community they emerged.
I have been frugal, but am close to the end of my funds. I want to provide quality clothing with designs that honor the rich history of wrestling, but am running into issues because of the minimums required to purchase the items I need, such as quality shirts, labels, plastisol screen printed transfers, mailers that promote the organizations we will donate to, etc.
I love the sport of wrestling. It has been around since the ancient Sumarians and was one of the original Olympic sports. It has produced some of the kindest, toughest (mentally and physically), and most intelligent people I have known. I have also been fortunate enough to coach at the college and high school levels and witnessed the power of character building wrestling inspires.
Wrestling has made me into everything I am today and I want to give back to this grassroots sport through art (current wrestling shirts are kind of cheesey) and coaching athletes of all sizes (wrestling is one of the only sports that does not discriminate based on size) and economic background.
I will be so incredibly grateful for any help that you can give to make my dream a reality. I will find a way to make this happen no matter what, but your contributions will help my company be successful from the start. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Be Well,
Brian Zane
