Alicia Lara - Medical & Funeral Fund
Donation protected
Our mother, Alicia, was diagnosed with Stage 4 matastasized Lung Cancer on September 22, 2014. When we found out about her condition, the cancer had already spread to the bone (skull, neck, throughout spinal vertabrae, femur, other) and lymph nodes. She was in terrible pain at the time.
She was hospitalized for days while they did numerous tests and radiation was started immediately. She had weeks-worth of radiation to several areas of her body. In mid-late October, we opted for holistic treatment and went out of the country for therapy. Therapy was over $50,000, which had to paid upfront. We got in debt (multiple loans) to be able to get our mother to treatment as soon as possible, as her condition was progressing rapidly.
We returned to the States in mid-November, but her condition was advancing with no positive results. Unfortunately, her physical state at the time did not allow her to follow treatment as directed. Our mother gave her every effort each day fighting for her life.
She was in and out of hospitals numerous times to treat different symtoms of her condition. Every day she was in a hospital, we made sure one of her children was there with her at all times. We had to miss work, but it was important for us to spend time with our mother. In mid-December, we opted for chemotheraphy, after seeing no results from other treatment, but treatment was refused as she was too weak. Doctors said it was too late and there was nothing they could do. As her condition progressed rapidly and after going in and out of hospitals, she had a minor stroke. Her health deteriorated each day until she not able to move or eat.
She past away this past Saturday, February 7th, 2015, after much pain and suffering. She fought until the end. She wanted to live.
In addition to our current medical debt, our family is now struggling with funeral costs. Your support will be greatly appreacited. Thank you on behalf of the Lara Family. May God bless you!
