Richard Perea, a Santa Fe native, is a highly accomplished culinary and jewelry designer, and entrepreneur. He owns and operates the Santa Fe Biscochito Company, which has experienced significant growth since its inception four years ago, expanding from a home-based operation to a biscochito and ice cream cart on the Historic Santa Fe Plaza and now a brick-and-mortar store. This expansion has enabled the introduction of diverse offerings, including the signature "Biscoccino" and other gourmet coffee beverages, and artisanal ice cream featuring popular flavors such as biscochito and chingón piñon. The Santa Fe Biscochito Company produces award-winning, handcrafted, traditional New Mexican biscochitos, as well as offering the state's quintessential "red or green" chile-dusted options. These traditional biscochitos, made with love and, yes, lard, are a perfect representation of our humble local tradition. Well, we just about made it through our first year in the new storefront, though not without a few hiccups. I'm looking for help offsetting some of my initial startup costs and unforeseen circumstances, like the flooding, thievery, and vandalism we've already experienced, as well as our typical off-season.
