Hello, my name is Tara Rapier. My dad, David Rapier, and his girlfriend, Jill Pittman, were recently in a severe motorcycle accident. The back tire popped on the highway and they were both thrown from the bike. He was life flighted to MU Hospital, and Jill was taken by ambulance. His injuries include; crushed ribs, several broken bones, 2 collapsed lungs, a minor spinal injury, and he will require reconstructive surgery. Jill had a ruptured spleen, multiple bruises, road rash, and several lacerations. Jill has been discharged, but is still in a lot of pain and it will take time to heal. My dad will be here, at the hospital, for at least another 4 weeks. When he is released he will have a long road to recovery before he will be able to work again. I work a full-time job, but I am unable to take on all of the additional expenses, like paying his rent, utilities, etc. Between his medical bills and his daily and monthly expenses, I'm left extremely nervous about how I'm going to make this happen. He has also been Jill's sole financial provider as she has dealt with medical issues and been unable to work over the last year.
