Aid Daniel Houff's Vision Recovery Journey
Donation protected
Hello, this fundraiser is for my hubby, Daniel Houff.
Nine years ago, Daniel had four unsuccessful eye surgeries on his right eye in an attempt to reattach his retina. He is permanently blind in that eye.
Recently, this past April, the retina in Dan's left eye tore and partially detached. He had surgery on April 28th, and the surgeon put an extra strong gas bubble in his eye, thus prolonging his recovery from 3-4 weeks to 12 weeks. In the meantime, a cataract has formed on his left eye, and he now needs cataract surgery in order to be able to see clearly (currently everything is a big fuzzy blur). He is currently legally blind.
Dan has used up all his PTO and is in 'unpaid leave status.' During this status, he is required to pay for our health, dental, vision, and life insurance policies, including the portion the school board normally pays. This adds up fast to $2500 a month. On top of that, he has already accrued out-of-pocket fees for the retina surgery, soon for the cataract surgery, and lastly for another new glasses prescription for reading (he just paid $500+ in March for a new prescription that's now no good).
Your help would take some of this stress and worries off our shoulders.
We thank you so much for your kindness.
