Aid Chance Burkes and His Family

UPDATE ON CHANCE!
We are incredibly grateful for your generous donations to Chance and his family during this challenging time. We are relieved to share that his surgery on Friday was a success, and he is now breathing on his own. He even managed to wake up for a few seconds yesterday, showing us all that he is fighting strong. As we now wait for a new heart, he has a long road ahead, and your thoughts and prayers mean the world to us. Thank you for your donations, kindness, and support!

My name is Casey Keown, the owner of Casey’s Dugout Pizza Boutique here on the east side. This is a GoFundMe for not only one of our chefs here at the shop, but also one of our dear friends, Chance Burkes. Chance has been with us since day one and he needs our help! Chance is being life-flighted to Indianapolis this evening at 4 o’clock. The doctors are saying he needs a new heart; only 5% of his heart is working as we speak, and he is in a medically induced coma. Chance has a six-year-old son, Mason, whom he and his long-term girlfriend, Makaylee Lindauer, raise together. Everyone in town knows that Dirk and Jeanette and Michael are the closest thing there is to family to me and my family, and that’s how I was introduced to Chance. At such a young age of 30, unfortunately, Chance is fighting for his life as we speak. I have a good following on social media; I wear my heart on my sleeve and I show you all the good, the bad, and the ugly in my seven years of doing social media. I have never once gotten on here and asked anyone for anything, but today I’m asking. Whether it is a dollar or $10, I can promise you with 100% certainty that this young family needs all the help they can get, especially raising a six-year-old boy. Chance would never ask anything from anyone, and if he knew about it, he would not let me even attempt to do this GoFundMe, but I feel as if it’s something we need to do. He has 95% blockage in his heart; within the last hour, they put a balloon in his heart to keep it pumping on his way to Indianapolis. He just got out of surgery and will have another surgery tomorrow with more experienced doctors. Again, I know things are tight for everyone, but if you have an extra dollar or 10 to spare on Chance’s behalf and to help out Makaylee and Mason at least get through during this difficult time, they are expecting him to be in Indianapolis for over a month out of work, and most importantly, away from his family. Thank you so much for your consideration, and please say a prayer for our good friend Chance. He needs all the support he can get. I’m willing to trade pizzas, food, and time to anyone that I could return the favor to for the love, support, and help.
