Aid Cathy Lawless Fight Her Cancer Battle

Hello everyone.

It seemed like it was time for an update. My mom, Cathy Lawless, has been battling her fight with stage 4 colon cancer for almost a year now. While we were very hopeful with her combination of chemotherapy treatments and naturopathic treatments to simultaneously combat the cancer, it fell short. Unfortunately, since the original diagnosis, the cancer has metastasized into her lungs and liver. She started treatment at a Cancer Clinic in Portland, Oregon and also goes to a cancer center in Medford, Oregon. Since these treatments were less effective than we all hoped, she is looking into different chemotherapy and alternative treatment options. These treatments require her to be away from home for extended periods of time while she undergoes treatment four days a week. Between the lodging costs, meals, and the treatment, the financial burden has been and will continue to be significant.

Anyone who knows Cathy knows that she is the most positive, kind-hearted, creative, and loving person you could ever hope to meet. She has always been such an active, healthy, and vibrant person, so this diagnosis came as a huge shock for the whole family. Over the past year she has suffered significant pain and weight loss, making moving around or eating extremely difficult. Our hope is she will be able to find a treatment that is more effective on her type of cancer and she is able to regain her strength, reduce her pain, and of course hopefully shrink her cancer.

My mom is only 64 years old and before this happened she was such an active person: hiking, painting, welding, doing pottery, you name it and she was out there doing it. She has always been there for her family as a kind, supportive, and amazing person. So, we want to do everything we can to support her now and are asking for help doing that.

Any donation you are able to make will go directly toward medical expenses, lodging, and travel expenses during this difficult time. We hope that some financial support will help Cathy and my stepdad, Bob, ease their burden.
