Aid Bret Denio's Path to Recovery
Don protégé
Hello everyone, my name is Cyndi and I am a good friend of Bret Denio! Many of you know Bret from the softball field, receiving emails to help get his softball players recruited to continue their education and softball career or possible PGF (Premier Girls Fastpitch).
Bret has unfortunately had to deal with a medical situation that has had him hospitalized for over 3 weeks now. Bret suffers from diabetes and unfortunately, Bret suffered from an ulcer on the bottom of his foot, which turned into an infection. Although the doctors tried to save his foot with surgery and antibiotics, it was unsuccessful and Bret ended up having to have a portion of his foot amputated. Just yesterday, Bret underwent his 5th surgery to complete a skin graft on the wound. It was successful and Bret will spend a few more days in the hospital and then he will move to a rehabilitation facility! He will need extensive physical therapy along with some special inserts in his shoe and will likely have to be non-weight bearing for several weeks.
Along with all that Bret has endured with all of his foot issues, Bret is also one of his mom’s primary caregivers. Bret & his brother will have to hire additional caregivers for his mom. Bret has a heart of gold and relationships with many softball coaches. Many are currently sporting the Diabetes Awareness bracelets that I have been handing out to show support for Bret while he heals! Although his spirits have been high from all the prayers and positive vibes, it’s scary to think of a new way of life!
If you would like to support Bret and help take the financial burden off of him, I welcome it! All funds will go to Bret for any durable medical equipment, caregivers, and anything else that would help him get through this time of his life! Thank you for your support!
