Don protégé
Our Uncle Clyde is in end-stage liver failure, Liver Cirrhosis, and his kidneys have failed. Up until a week ago, most of our family didn’t know how bad a position our Aunt was in because of the devastating and life threatening health issues with which Uncle Clyde struggles.
Clyde has been in and out of the hospital and convalescent facilities for the last two years. Just in the last three months, he has been transported by survival flight to University of Michigan Critical Care Unit three times. He is currently in U of M CCU on 24hr dialysis in hopes that his vital systems will improve enough to get rehabilitation and qualify for the liver and kidney transplant list.
Unfortunately, his blood pressure is too low for him to endure regular dialysis. His MELD scores which indicate survival rate and transplant readiness are very poor and not improving. Thus, at this time, doctors have prepared our Aunt Risa to make life directives for Uncle Clyde.
She has mounting medical bills and has exhausted all of their transplant savings. Additionally, during this critical time when she should be able to spend time with Uncle Clyde and be present for vital medical decisions on his behalf, she now is taking time off work without pay to stay at his bedside. However, after having to be absent from work for so many days, she is also required to pay for her medical insurance out of pocket.
We family members witness Aunt Risa struggle so deeply that we have decided to start this Go Fund Me. It is our hope that any kind of help will carry her through this emotionally and physically draining time. We realize that we can only do so much.
