Adventures in Aronin's Adoption
Donation protected
In early March, my sister Kayla passed away, leaving behind four beautiful children. While Ben and I had slowly closed the door to having more babies ourselves, we both have a deep passion for making sure that the fatherless are fathered, so adoption has never been a closed door for us.
As little girls, Kayla and I promised we would always take care of each other's kids. When Kayla was first starting off her journey in motherhood, she called me, exasperated and scared about how she would do it alone. I reminded her that she would NEVER do it alone-- that we would always be there to help her and that family is how kids get raised, never with just two parents.
As Kayla lay in her end days, I called several times and sat several days with her, reminding her that I would, indeed raise her children to never forget her and to always remember their "Momma" memories.
I didn't know then that it meant that God wanted me to be their mom.
Through a series of fighting with God, disagreements with others, and many weeks of prayer, Ben and I pursued my parents with the intentions that we had to adopt the two older twins (the little ones have an amazing dad!).
God has plans that have had us wait. God has plans that have had us scared. God has plans that have had us encouraged. God has plans that are costly.
By donating your prayers and your finances, it would help to ensure that we can make this decision that came upon us very quickly, very smooth for these kids. Lawyer fees, trips back and forth to Michigan, and other costs will be able to be alleviated, ensuring that our now growing by two family is able to adjust to one another!
The twins currently live with us and are thriving in their school and life outside of school (swimming, meetings, therapy, choir, church). They are a perfect fit and exactly what God knew we needed to make our family complete! Known in our house as "Bubba"/"Cull-man" and "Lynnie"/"Sissy", we work daily to make sure that they know they fit in our home and that their Momma was so special to us as we create a new normal! We are adjusting to a home and still in the process of the adoption. Please keep us in your prayers and in your hearts!
