Abell Family Medical Expenses

Ryan and Danielle Abell welcomed there 3rd daughter, Karoline Kennedi, to the world on August 21st. When she was born they discovered some health issues (described below) that will lead to an extended stay in the NICU. This gofundme is to help them with the various expenses that they will encounter over the months ahead.

Danielle’s explanation of Karoline’s condition:

Yesterday marked two weeks since my sweet little Karoline Kennedi was born and it has been a roller coaster ever since. We had no idea that anything was wrong the day she made her entrance into the world. After she had trouble eating and some tests were ran the doctors diagnosed Karoline with Esophageal Atresia. There are several different types and of course our baby girl has a rare type where both ends of her esophagus are fully closed and she is unable to eat from her mouth. She has an amazing surgeon and he performed surgery the day she was born to place a g tube directly into her stomach for her to get nutrients. She will need two more surgeries, one on her belly and a major one to connect both ends of her esophagus. However, her esophagus will need to grow before the surgeon can perform her major surgery. She is projected to stay in the NICU for 4-9 months depending on her surgeries and how she grows. We have a long road ahead and are very thankful for everyone’s thoughts and prayers the past few weeks.
