Abby's Medical Recovery Fund
Donation protected
September seems to be THE month for me and injuries.
As I was hiking up to the summit of Mt. Pisgah, things took turn for the worse. Less than a quarter mile from the top, I slipped forward off of a wet rock, and landed on my right leg in the most awful way. As I looked down my leg was actually twisted and deformed. I could not bear weight on my leg, and the pain was excruciating!
Thankfully, I was not alone! My hiking partners immediately called search and rescue. It took almost 3 hours to get me off the mountain to the hospital. I remember thinking to myself "Why me?! And why again!?" I was experiencing a nightmare that I couldn't wake up from quick enough.
Hours later in the ER, the medical staff confirmed that I indeed suffered a displaced tibia fracture and a fracture in my medial malleolus. I went through surgery the following day to repair my ankle and place a rod in my tibia. Surgery went well, and now recovery begins --- at least 11 weeks --- much of it non-weight bearing on my leg. There will be physical thearpy and time away from work.
As you can imagine, I have a share in my medical expenses and living expenses don't stop. Your donations will help so much as I literally get "back on my feet".
My spirits high and can't thank everyone enough for all the all of the messages and support. You ALL make my heart smile!
