Shelter from the Storm

It has taken some time to find the right words but it's not easy to admit defeat and ask for help. It's equal parts humbling and humiliating to say out loud that you have come to a point in your life that you never thought you'd see. Despite my best efforts and intentions, I can't afford the basic human necessity of a roof over our head. The abridged version of our story is we need to move. We have an extremely short window in which to do so and don't have the time to earn the money to fund such a move with first month's rent, security deposit, application fees and other associated costs. I am just starting a new job and still have my freelance work, which I love, but it won't be enough to get us from point A to B within the alotted time frame. I am embarrassed, terrified and, most of all, feel like I am failing as a parent and a productive adult. These are not the "grown up" problems I ever expected to face yet, here they are staring me in the face and threatening to turn our lives upside down. Maybe we have all been here in one way or another. I don't know. The only certainty I have is that we have to move and we need more money that we currently have in order to do so. Feel free to judge me if you must but know that I would never put our lives out there for public consumption and ridicule if it wasn't absolutely necessary. Thanks for reading.
