A Voice for Amber

We are fundraising to help Amber out with legal fees in her ongoing battle to keep herself and her kids safe. The kids’ father has been trying to destroy Amber's life since they split up over 7 years ago. She has been subjected during this time to thousands of messages and verbal threats.

The latest in this long line of behavior is dragging her to court to remove the kids’ from their current school. The kids love school, their teachers, and their friends. This week, the judge decided to immediately remove them from this supportive environment (against Amber's wishes) because they are underperforming in school the past couple years. He's forcing them to move to a public school, where their father can put them on a bus from his house. This “new” school is also one hour away from Amber's home and work. This move is not only traumatizing for the children, but it also puts Amber's job (and financial stability) in serious jeopardy because it is physically impossible for her to bring her children to and from school and get to work on time, and decreases the amount of time she will be able to spend with the children when she has custody. This is certainly not in the best interests of children.

The children have not yet been given a chance to improve in school with the recommended behavioral therapy and a well-settled medication regime. There is ZERO evidence that the “new” school will be able to support them ANY better than their current school, yet the judge resorted to the most drastic measure - yanking them out of their school mid-year. He claimed that it was concerning that the school had not issued their 504 plans quickly enough, but when presented with their completed 504 plans mere hours later, he maintained the irrational decision to move them from their perfectly good school and disrupt their daily routine.

Their father has boasted that he knows all the judges and and threatened Amber that she would never win against him in court. He confidently reported that the kids would be ordered to go to his school days prior to the court hearing. He complains about the school participating in "drag shows" and celebrating "tranny day" and gay pride (the kids’ aunts - Amber’s sister and the godmother of her daughter - and her wife are gay).

Additionally, despite having significant income, Amber's Medicaid covers his children's healthcare, and Amber testified that he failed to pay for their music lessons (causing them to be pulled from their Christmas performance). He also failed to make any effort or offer financial support to help get the kids into recommended therapy as Amber struggled to find a therapist who took Medicaid.

He is now threatening to go back to court to take domiciliary parent status away from Amber, so that he can make all of their medical and educational decisions. He admittedly believes the moon landing is fake and Covid is a weapon/conspiracy, and objects to flu shots.

Amber is exhausted. In the past year, she graduated as a single mother with a degree in addiction counseling, started a new job, and lost her grandmother, all while trying to manage the nonstop bullying and threats. She is falling through the cracks. No one is listening to her. No one is listening to her kids. And their father is winning because she has no voice in this system and not enough money to continuously fight.

Keeping more details close to the vest for now since she is appealing. All money raised from this campaign will be used for her legal fees in this ongoing legal battle, and we will keep everyone updated of the status!
