A Tribute to Trinidad Ojeda

Family and friends, today we are reaching out for your assistance. As many of you know, our beloved Trinidad Ojeda has been in the hospital for the past few weeks. On the early morning of May 1, 2021 Trin was found unconscious, resuscitated and taken to a nearby hospital. We were informed that he suffered brain trauma caused by a ruptured aneurysm. After undergoing diagnostic studies, we learned that Trin had multiple aneurysms in addition to the rupture that needed to be drained.

On May 2nd drains and coil were put in place to stop bleed. Trin woke up briefly the following day and showed slight improvement. He was able to eat and walk with assistance. Approximately 24 hours later, Trin’s state declined, he underwent additional screenings which showed the drains were no longer working properly; his blood began to clot. There were several instances where this clotting was treated with medication in the angiograms which worked up until late last week. Around this time, it was determined that Trin needed a craniotomy to help alleviate the pressure and swelling in his head.

Several days have now passed, and there was little to no signs of improvement or responsiveness. Trin was taken in to for an MRI which revealed multiple strokes including one that would likely leave him paralyzed on the left side. As a family, we were prepared to stand by Trin’s side to help him get through the recovery process. At our meeting last week with Trin's care team, we had every reason to believe Trin would be able to overcome this major lifechanging event.

Trin now shows little to no improvement and has become even more dependent on respirator. Doctor ordered an MRI and it showed why Trin was not responsive as in most cases they had seen patients start to wake up from coma once sedation was eased up. MRI showed damaged brain tissue caused from lack of oxygen to brain which. It was then we decided not proceed with trach, tube feeding and shunt if he would require lifetime of care and be bedridden.

This new development, has given us grounds to come together again as family to determine what’s in Trin’s best interest, and consider what’s in the best interest of his wife Liz, children Cecelia, Trinidad, Jazlyn and Kaylynn and mother Lenora Ojeda. We all know that Trin’s is a fighter. We believe that he fought hard these past few weeks, but his body could not take anymore stress. Trin was full of life and would not want to stay here on this earth a day longer if he had no quality of life to share with his precious loved ones.  With that said, Trinidad has been placed on a DNR and we will meet with Palliative Care Team to discuss measures that will be put in place to ultimately keep Trin comfortable and allow nature to take its course.

Trin is young and had no record of illnesses prior to this tragedy that struck our family early this May.  While we had heard of some family history of brain aneurisms, it was not once suspected Trin could be suffering from this illness.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, both Trin and Liz have been unemployed and underinsured. This is why we are asking for your assistance today. We need help to cover funeral service and burial preparations for Trinidad Ojeda. All donations collected by Amber to use directly for laying Trin to rest and providing financial assistance for his immediate family to continue living their day to day lives during this huge adjustment.

We cannot thank you enough for all the continued prayers, phone calls and texts. The amount of love and support that we continue to received from our family and friends has truly been a Godsend. As a family, we thank you in advance from the bottom of our hearts for your heartfelt generosity as we all come together to pay A Tribute to Trinidad Ojeda.

Several have inquired about a BBQ Fundraiser which we will begin coordinating donations for very soon. A list of needed items will be shared once compiled. Feel free to reach out to Liz or me directly via DM if you have any questions.
