A new set of sails for the European Championship

Hello everyone! We would like to introduce you to our 49er Swiss Team which is composed of two people : Arno de Planta and myself, Maxime Bachelin.

We met five years ago at the Club de Voile de Vidy in Lausanne, Switzerland and directly hit it off. Before I met him, I was sailing on the 420 and the Optimist from the age of 8 to 15 years old and he was sailing on the 420 for a year.

In 2015, we started sailing together on the 420 and we made some good international results, a few of which were:
- 1st place (twice) at the Swiss Championship in Thalwill and Thun in 2015-2016
- 2nd place at the German Championship in Kiel in 2016
- 3rd place at the France Championship in 2016
- 7th place at the European Championship in Hungary in 2016
- 10th place at the Youth Sailing World Championship in Auckland in 2016

We immediately had a good connection on the boat, completing each other in every task and always pushing one another to become the best version of ourselves.

In 2017, we began to sail on the 49er, which is an olympic class boat. We also made some good results until now. To name a few:
- Goldfleet (25th/108) at the International Regatta in Palma de Mallorca
- 3rd place at the Youth European Championship

After 6 years of sailing together, we know each other better than ever and the chemistry between us is a big advantage on the water.

We are currently in the Swiss Sailing Team, in the C cadre which is the section made for the future olympic generations. There are many financial aspects in this sport, from the cost of the trips abroad for competitions and the coaching to the expanses lying around the boat work.

Presently, we need to get a good new set of sails for our 49er to achieve our goal and to maximize our performances. This new set of sails could lead us to a better ranking in the Goldfleet (top 25/more than 100 boats). This result could be a good take off for our 2024 Olympic Campaign.

On the 28th of September 2020, the European Championship will take place on the Lake Attersee in Austria and this would be the perfect event to demonstrate our best performances thanks to our new set of sails.

The donations given through this supportive platform will enable us to get closer to our dream and maybe one day see an olympic medal hanging around our necks!

We thank you all in advanced for taking the time to read our story and I hope we'll get the support needed!

Kind regards,

Arno de Planta and Maxime Bachelin
