A new Liver for Papa V

The most incredible miracle happened to me and more importantly to Vincent Heflin!

This past week my Papa V was feeling his very worst, getting worse by the day and honestly probably starting to do some giving up.

He has been on the transplant list waiting for an organ and we were told he only has a year because once he turns 71 he will no longer be eligible.

.

However, Johns Hopkins Hospital called us merely days later.

They called to tell us that they had a liver available for him!

They ended up transferring him from Cumberland to Baltimore via medical helicopter in the middle of the night and his surgery was incredibly successful !!

The most amazing thing is just the fact that it was all so God ordained. The fact that he was receiving care for a day before and then had medical transport. Just Incredible.

Even the continued positivity and progress of his initial recovery. He is kicking butt!!

Sometimes people joke about being “God’s favorite” and I certainly feel like that right now but the thing is, we all are.

My Dad wouldn’t admit it but I don’t think he felt worthy of this surgery. I don’t think he feels like he deserves this chance.

But God has proven time and again he is SO worth it all. And we all are.

I hope that today you can find hope in this miracle we are experiencing and know that truth for yourself too.

We are not out of the woods just yet. His surgery is extremely high risk as is his recovery period which will take months.
