A miracle for Lexi
Donation protected
On Tuesday May 7, 2019 Lexi was suntanning on a rooftop. As she was getting down to go back inside she fell from the roof approximately 2 stories and landed on the concrete below. It was later determined that both of her feet, ankles and pelvis had been broken into many pieces. She was taken by ambulance to Mercy hospital, was from there transported to North Memorial where she was put in intensive care and listed in critical condition. She then had her first operation on her leg just to stabilize it. It was then determined that her pelvis and lower spine were so damaged that this hospital did not have a neurosurgeon that was able to operate. She was then transported to Regions hospital to have this operation and get her lower hips, spine and pelvis reattached. She will still be needing at least 4-5 more operations to reconstruct the rest of her pelvis, her ankles and feet. Lexi has always been very active and has her whole life ahead of her at the age of 19 but still has a long road ahead of her. She will not be able to walk for several months and will be in hospital for quite a while yet.
