A helping hand for Don and Margret Jones
Donation protected
Hello everyone
I am fundraising for Don and Margaret Jones in Walnut Mississippi. Don is 84 and Margaret is 85, they have been married for 65+ years. They have lived in their home trailer at Walnut Mississippi for 25+ years.
As many of you know we had severe straight line winds across Mississippi on June 25 at about 8:00pm. The winds were particularly destructive in Don and Margaret’s area. These winds brought down 2 massive trees on top of their home in the kitchen and living room area. I and others have cut away the trees and removed the limbs and heavy branches from the house. Our county road supervisor brought in a full size excavator and removed the massive trunk that had crushed the Jones home. Don and Margaret survived with only scratches but their house trailer is not salvageable. Unfortunately they do not have any home owners insurance. As is with many of the elderly in these trying financial times they’ve had to choose between eating, electricity and insurance so they have had to let their insurance go in order to just survive. A small camper has been loaned (3-4 weeks) for them to stay in but the AC on it doesn’t work. But the Jones’s needs only begin there. As you can imagine at their age both Don and Margaret have numerous medical health issues. He is diabetic and she has a pace maker. I am currently looking into the red tape to getting a FEMA trailer for them to live in. Prayers are needed. Any help is a blessing. If you are local, hands on physical help will be appreciated. After we get a FEMA trailer we will need to build a porch and awning. All proceeds received will go towards helping meet the many needs of Don and Margaret. Help as you are moved. Many thanks on behalf of Don and Margret Jones.
