A Fresh Start for Beatriz

Spanish (English below): Hola Familia, amigos, les escribe Sarah, la hija mayor de Beatriz. Esta es la historia de mi mamá y la razón de esta campaña

A comienzos de noviembre de 2018, mi mamá comenzó a experimentar fuertes dolores abdominales, fiebre y deshidratación. Fue un momento difícil para nuestra familia. Inmediatamente, la llevaron a la clínica de urgencia, donde los médicos realizaron una cirugía exploratoria. El diagnóstico fue diverticulitis, y mi mamá se sometió a un tratamiento con la esperanza de una recuperación normal. Desafortunadamente, eso no sucedió.

Por razones personales, mi mamá tuvo que buscar atención médica en otra clínica, donde intentaron tratarla con medicamentos, pero nuevamente, los resultados no fueron los que esperábamos. A finales del mismo mes, se sometió a otra cirugía en otra institución médica, y esta vez, el resultado fue una colostomía. Esto marcó el comienzo de un viaje extremadamente complicado.

Mi mamá ha enfrentado infecciones periódicas y graves que la han llevado a la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos (UCI) en varias ocasiones. Además, ha tenido que lidiar con problemas de piel debido a una alergia relacionada con la bolsa de colostomía, lo que ha causado laceraciones y sangrados dolorosos. A pesar de todos estos desafíos, su fuerza y determinación para seguir adelante son admirables.

Mi mamá es una madre increíble, amorosa, fuerte y nunca ha dejado de rendirse, y su principal motivación para luchar contra esta difícil situación es su familia. Ella sueña con tener una vida normal, y confiamos en Dios, en que luego de esta cirugía, asi será.

Hace aproximadamente 2 años, mi familia se trasladó a los Estados Unidos en busca de una solución a esta situación médica complicada. Hemos encontrado la esperanza gracias a un seguro médico que cubrirá la mayoría de los gastos (el 75%) clínicos y médicos necesarios para la reconstrucción de su pared abdominal y reversión de la colostomía. La cirugía está programada para el 7 de noviembre de 2023, en el Good Samaritan Medical Center en el centro de West Palm Beach.

Los costos asociados con esta cirugía son significativos, y es por eso que recurrimos a esta plataforma en busca de apoyo. Cualquier ayuda que puedan brindar será un paso hacia la calidad de vida que mi mamá siempre ha deseado.

This is Sarah writing to you, Beatriz oldest daughter. This is the story of my mom and the reason behind this campaign.

In early November 2018, my mom began to experience severe abdominal pain, fever, and dehydration. It was a tough time for our family. She was immediately rushed to the emergency clinic, where doctors performed an exploratory surgery. The diagnosis was diverticulitis, and my mom underwent treatment in the hope of a normal recovery. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.

For personal reasons, my mom had to seek medical attention at another clinic, where they attempted to treat her with medications, but once again, the results were not what we had hoped for. Towards the end of the same month, she underwent another surgery at a different medical institution, and this time, it resulted in a colostomy. This marked the beginning of an incredibly challenging journey.

My mom has faced periodic and severe infections that have landed her in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on several occasions. Additionally, she has had to deal with skin issues due to an allergy related to the colostomy bag, causing painful lacerations and persistent bleeding. Despite all these challenges, her strength and determination to keep going are admirable.

My mom is an incredible, loving, and strong mother who has never given up. Her main motivation to fight through this tough situation is her family. She dreams of having a normal life, and we trust in God that after this surgery, it will be possible.

About 2 years ago, my family moved to the United States in search of a solution to this complicated medical situation. We have found hope through a medical insurance policy that will cover most of the clinical and medical expenses needed (75%) for abdominal wall reconstruction and colostomy reversal. The surgery is scheduled for November 7, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in downtown West Palm Beach.

The costs associated with this surgery are significant, which is why we are turning to this platform for support. Any assistance you can provide will be a step towards the quality of life my mom has always wished for.
