A Fire & A Broken Family

Hi everyone, my name is Johnnie Ann & our family received the call today that no one ever wants to get. This evening around 5pm I looked at my phone and it read the most heartbreaking text ever.. “JA, call us Shannon’s house is burning down, they are okay but the puppies are not.”

Shannon is my older sister who has two 13 year old twins, and their grandmother who lives in Omaha, Arkansas. They are Louisiana natives and moved to Arkansas within the last year. Today their lives have changed forever.

Tonight there are two broken hearted teenage kids that saw their entire life go up in flames. There was a grandmother who lost her most prized possessions- her parents pictures, her mothers jewelry, her deceased daughter’s possessions & much more. A mom who is feeling the gut wrenching pain of knowing she was the one who was cooking and the grease fire happened. A family that was defeated by all odds.

Tonight they walked away from their land with the clothes on their back, shoes on their feet & nothing else. The simplest things that we take for granted daily - toothbrush, pillow, cell phones, charges, car keys, personal hygiene necessities & memorabilia… they have none of this. They are left with nothing.

To contact them currently is a struggle. But we do know they need to rebuild everything. They need to care for themselves, care for the animals that survived and rebuild their future. It won’t be over night, it won’t be next week but we believe in faith. Asking for help is one of the most humiliating but humble tasks. They absolutely need help to pick up the pieces and they know they can’t do it themselves.
