إِنَّا لِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

Our hearts are broken as we mourn the tragic loss of our beloved brother, Anwar Osman Kanu.

On Tuesday morning, at around 4:00 a.m., while working as an Uber driver to provide for his family, Anwar was tragically shot and killed. The incident remains under investigation.

Anwar was a devoted husband and the loving father of six young children, the oldest being just 16 years old. He and his family moved from Egypt to Portland in search of a better life and a brighter future for their children. Tragically, his children must now face life without their father.

During this incredibly difficult time, we ask our community to come together and help ease the financial burden on Anwar’s wife and children. Every donation, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference and help support the family as they navigate this unimaginable loss.
