A Dog Named Tofu Is Sekai's Second Chance at Life

Hello Everyone!
Some of you may know me as Kat and others may know me as the artist Sekai. As many of you may already know, last year, I almost died while riding my bike on the sidewalk after getting run over by a truck. I had sustained horrible injuries and truly feel like my survival was an amazing feat.
A year has gone by and I have pushed myself through physical rehabilitation, therapy, and doctor appointments. However, there are some setbacks that I am still trying to overcome daily. After the accident, I had acquired a severe and disabling form of PTSD. This PTSD has shaken me and taken control over my life in ways that make it extremely difficult for me to be independent. There are a variety of tasks I can no longer do on my own:
· Crossing streets without onset of panic attack.
· Walking through parking lots.
· Maintain a 9-5 job due to being unable to get to places on time and consistently on my own.
· Buying my own groceries or other necessities to live due to lack of access.
· Being unable to enjoy a simple walk alone that expands a single block radius.
· Attend my mental health and doctor appointments without assistance
Yes, PTSD has currently ruled my life for one solid year, but I decided it’s time for me to take my life back! After consulting with medical professionals, it has been decided that I am a perfect candidate for a Psychiatric service animal! The service animal, already name Tofu, will be trained to help me with panic attacks, assist me in the road if I freeze, wake me up from nightmares, call for help if I need it, and remind me to take my medication after receiving a traumatic brain injury from this accident.
Tofu is already on her way so having funds as soon as possible will help move the process along.
In order to fully acquire a service animal, I am also going to be seeing another doctor that is not under my insurance policy. This means, I will have to pay for these visits entirely out of pocket. I look forward to getting the mental help I need to become an independent positive member of society again! That’s where your help comes in! All donations will be used for Psychiatric healthcare, supplies for Tofu, and service animal training by certified professionals. Your help will make all this possible! Normally, service animals are at least $30,000 USD which is why I opted for assisted training with a professional to make cost much more approachable.
I look forward to documenting the journey of Tofu’s and my growth as teammates and friends via social media! Acquiring an animal is a huge commitment. Not only will Tofu provide me with much desired freedom, but I also want to provide Tofu with a forever home she deserves. Thank you for allowing all of this to happen!
