A chance at life for Maki - Vet bill appeal
Spende geschützt
Hi, me and my husband are seeking help to support Maki's medical needs including extensive surgery.
I found her Friday the 26th of Jan just after 5pm in a deep and muddy ditch, meowing in distress. RSPCA couldn't help (they did not have anyone to send and were not able to give me a ETA). The fire brigade attended the scene in just minutes after the call but they anticipated they would have not be able to provide medical assistance thereafter.

She looked quite poorly, so we took her to the emergency vet. It turns out she is stray cat, no more than 6 months old, probably hit by a car and her pelvis was crushed. She had fleas and ticks, she was malnourished, underweight and dehydrated. She had an infected wound with a worm in it and blood in urine likely because of the trauma.
The options were either immediate medical attention or doing nothing and wait for Monday to see if charities would take and treat her, with the possibility they could have put her to sleep.

We decided to cover her first initial assessment and treatment of fluids, painkillers, anti-inflammatory and antibiotics. Unfortunately the x-ray showed several hips fractures (left worse than the right side, with lots of bone fragments) and detachment of the pelvis from her spine. Given her age, the orthopedic surgeon said she has a good chance to get better with surgery and have a very good and happy life. The total expenses so far are around 7000£, including extra post op checks due to post op complications, investigations, prescription and medications. She will still need x-ray and maybe tail amputation if she doesn't regain sensitivity and movement.
Please share her story. Any help/support is greatly appreciated.
Thank you ❤️
