Approximately 1 in every 5 youth experiences a severe mental disorder at some point. Youth with mental disorders face major challenges with stigma, isolation, and discrimination, as well as lack of access to health care and education facilities (Source: WHO).
There is a dire need to tackle the stigma associated with mental illness in youth, and aid development of innovative resources to help youth facing such challenges.
On September 22-23, 2018 MDJunior is hosting our second Global Youth Health Summit & Hackathon 2018 at Hong Kong International School (HKIS), HONG KONG. The theme of our Summit - Hackathon is “Youth and Mental Health”
In Hong Kong itself, the incidence of mental illness in youth and adolescents has risen by over 50% in the last 5 years (Source: Bauhinia.org).
The vision of #GYHS | GYHS.org is to equip youth with an understanding of the mental health challenges facing them, and provide them a platform to civically engage and have their voices heard.
MDJunior is launching #MDJrHack the first hackathon event of its kind in Asia. It is designed to unite and inspire high school and college students with youth from different walks of life to develop innovative solutions around these issues.
Calling Youth, Parents, Families, Friends, Mentors and the Global community!! We’re in our final stages of fund raising for this event where registrations is free.
