Ukhanyo Primary School Uniform Fund
Donation protected
Ukhanyo Primary School is a school in a slum in Cape Town, South Africa. Serving almost all children in the 40,000 person slum, the school is in desperate need for resources like uniforms, tuition funding, infrastructure and more classrooms. This past summer, I taught at Ukhanyo for 5 weeks, teaching English to Xhosa-speaking 4th graders, and saw firsthand how this under-resourced school struggles daily to meet the basic needs of their students.
I will never forget how Ukhanyo and its amazing students impacted me and I will never stop fighting for them.
At UPS, school uniforms are MANDATORY - meaning that students are absolutely REQUIRED to purchase and wear them.
No uniform = No school
My goal is to raise $2,000 to purchase school uniforms for Ukhanyo Primary School's neediest students. Most families cannot afford to purchase uniforms for their children. Children that have the luxury of owning a uniform are often forced to wear them for many years and they become worn, filthy and too tight for growing bodies.
Please donate to the uniform fund. By doing so, you would literally be putting clothes on a child's back and giving him or her the chance to attend school.

We are partnering with MasiCorp, a South African organization, to raise these funds. This organization resides in the township where UPS is located and does many fundraisers and initiatives to support the school. So far, MasiCorp has helped created a science lab, a library and a small computer workroom for the school.
Here is a link to the organization with more photos and a description of their projects in the school. Check it out!
