Scott Dennis was my oldest brother, ten years my senior. I called him "my twin born ten years apart." He was my best friend. On September 3rd, 2011 - Scott died of an accidental heroin overdose. It has forever changed our lives.
Scott's addiction to alcohol began young, a mere teenager. As the years passed, his struggle with addiction grew.
In his final years: he lost his wife & home to divorce, and his step-son to suicide. He was in and out of rehab and lived a homeless, indigent lifestyle. He stole, cheated, and lied. Yes, addiction stole my brother away. At heart, he was not the man he had become.
Scott enjoyed helping others. He was easy going and befriended others easily. He had a huge heart and was always a friend to the downtrodden.
I am his sister. I was his keeper in the final years; I am now the keeper of his memories.
I am creating this "Scotty D, Remember Me" Memorial Fund in hopes of helping others in this community that he called home for decades.
Money raised will be used for things that were important to Scott:
1. helping the local food pantry stock their shelves
2. helping the homeless in need of blankets/jackets
3. helping local children in need
4. helping local families in need
As assistance is given, I will update here (in the course of full disclosure).
I want my brother's name to be remembered for more than the turmoil that addiction caused.
I want to create an AMAZING legacy for my brother, one he was unable to create for himself.
Please help me!!!
The "Scotty D, Remember Me" Memorial Fund - no gift is too small.
In loving memory of my brother:
Scott Whitney Dennis (1/21/61-9/3/11)
Thank you for your help!!
