One week into the start of 6th grade and middle school, my son Sage was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. He was in terrible tummy pain and had lost 12 lbs. Already tall and thin, 12 lbs was alot to lose. He has been a brave warrior taking shot after shot after shot. Missing lots of class due to a racing heart, headaches and not feeling well.  He has struggled to catch up, and just hang in there. At times, I see the sadness and exhaustion in him in just wanting to feel good and has cried over wanting to "just be normal" again.  As a mom, this breaks my heart for him. He loves baseball, football, the junior life guard program, and all sports really.  I am a single mom of two kids, and this flipped our world upside down, but we are forging through. I have done research and emailed with another mom in Florida that found a treatment out of Isreal that is showing GREAT results and promise for newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetics. University of Colorado just finished a clinical trial on this treatment, so too late for my son to join. AAT (Alpha 1 Antitrypsin) is a protein found in our plasma, it is currently being used and FDA approved for emphysema patients, but a doctor out of Isreal has been transfusing this into newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetics with much success. Some have been off insulin for 2-3 years now. We can do this treatment here in the U.S. and I desperately want to do this infusion therapy on my 12 year old son here in the U.S. PLEASE HELP ME THROUGH A KIND DONATION.  I will FOREVER be a advocate for this treatment for other newly diagnosed people, in the hopes of stopping this ever exploding disease!
