Support Rita's Ovarian Cancer Treatment Journey

On June 1, 2022 Rita had an acute cardiac event. After 21 days in the cardiac ICU she received an LVAD (Left Ventricle Assist Device). This device is a bridge to heart transplantation. There was some hope of heart regeneration; however, those hopes are gone. Rita will need a heart transplant in the near future.

To stay on the list I have to have a CT scan every year; unfortunately, they found stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. They had to kick me off the heart transplant list. I need to be cancer free for five years to get back on the list.

As you can imagine, the cost associated with a cancer treatment are extreme. Even with insurance, we are facing many out-of-pocket expenses, such as temporarily moving to New York City, co-pays, medications and ongoing rehabilitation.
